San Isidro belongs to the Province of Heredia, located 8 kilometers northeast of the City of Heredia. It limits to the east with the Province of San José. It is located 1,360 meters above sea level, with a total area of 26.96 km². and temperatures that oscillate between 15ºC and 25ºC depending on the altitude. Known in colonial times as `Saca de agua` for its underground aquifers that give abundant water to its neighbors. This was the land of the Indian chief, the Yorustí cacique.

Here we find the town of San Josecito, which has the neighborhoods of Santa Cruz and Santa Elena. Route 32 that connects the Central Valley with the Costa Rican Caribbean region crosses a large part of the canton of San Isidro which has allowed a greater development of the canton as well as a faster communication between San Isidro and the city of San José.

Coffee, livestock and vegetable planting are the main economic activities in the area, in addition to tomatoes and ornamental plants.

Se encuentra a 1.360 metros sobre el nivel del mar, con una superficie total de 26,96 km². y temperaturas que oscilan entre los 15ºC y los 25ºC según la altitud. Conocido en tiempos coloniales como `Saca de agua` por sus mantos acuíferos subterráneos que regalan agua abundante a sus vecinos. Esta fue la tierra del jefe indio el cacique Yorustí.

Aquí encontramos a la localidad de San Josecito, que cuenta con los barrios de Santa Cruz y Santa Elena. La ruta 32 que conecta el Valle Central con la región del Caribe costarricense atraviesa gran parte del cantón de San Isidro lo cual ha permitido un mayor desarrollo del cantón así como una más rápida comunicación entre San Isidro y la ciudad de San José.

Café, ganadería y siembra de hortalizas son las principales actividades económicas de la zona, además de tomate y plantas ornamentales.
